Thank you Dr. McLaren. I am beginning to feel whole again. My night sweats, constant hot flashes, heavy sweating, irritability, teeth grinding and insomnia are beginning to subside. I'm grateful for your immediate attention to my health. I look forward to my return visit. BTW, your office staff are phenomenal. They are attentive, knowledgeable, pleasant and professional. Your office space is comfortable and inviting. It made me feel welcomed and decreased my anxiety. I appreciate everything you do to guide women's health. This was my first appointment and the receptionist scheduled my appointment the wrong day and when I asked her to correct it- she said it was too late to change the appointment. So I took time off work to go to the appointment. I had an appointment and waited over 2 hours to see the doctor. The receptionist handed me the incorrect paperwork and said the wait time restarted after I completed the correct documents. The receptionist was rude and unprofessional.

I chose New Beginnings OBGYN specifically because I wanted a Black woman to be my doctor, hoping for empathy, care, and shared understanding. Unfortunately, my experience was deeply disappointing.
This was my first ever visit to a gynecologist, and I made that clear to the provider. Still, there was no effort to make me feel at ease or explain what was happening. I ended up receiving a Pap smear without my consent, something I only learned had occurred when the front desk casually mentioned it on my way out. I had explicitly stated to both the OB and her assistant that I did not want a Pap smear at that time.
I also waited over an hour past my scheduled appointment time. When I asked about the delay, the front desk staff dismissed my concern and claimed I had only waited 30 minutes because my paperwork was submitted late—which wasn’t true. I handed it in for 15 minutes after I arrived while the receptionist was on the phone. Then she returned it to me saying I had missed some signatures, further delaying the process through no fault of my own.
The OB also prescribed me birth control without doing any bloodwork or hormonal testing. When I asked if any lab work would be done to assess my hormone levels, since I suspected something might be off- she told me that she was “the professional” and that I came to her for a reason. Only after I mentioned symptoms associated with PCOS did she order blood tests, but she had already prescribed medication anyway.
The whole experience left me feeling dismissed, unimportant, and frankly a little violated. I expected a standard of care and communication that was not met. I wouldn’t recommend this office to anyone, especially not someone seeking informed, compassionate care.

I’ve only had one visit with the doctor but am encouraged and hopeful that she will find a solution to my problem. She spent time informing me of my options and made recommendations which seemed good/conservative ways to proceed. I’ll know more and be able to make a better recommendation as we move through treatment.

I love Dr. McLaren, I came to her my first year living in Houston for my annual checkup and she was very inviting. I left and moved back to Atlanta and just moved back again and guess what? I came straight back to her because when she talks to you she genuinely cares and listens to your concerns. If you want someone who is a passionate OBGYN, then you'll definitely want to try her out!

This was a first visit to see Dr.McLaren,
I’d forgotten my phone wallet with all my ids , walked back home .
She took me tho this walk home made me 10 min late .
She was very pleasant and trough.
Felt very at ease and comfortable.
Office very clean bigger than what it looks like in front .
Within walking distance from home is a plus !
